  i know this article has been discussed, re-hashed upside down in past threads.

  but there were at least 2 points i discovered in here that i felt were pertinent and important to bring out concerning the total control and narcissistic tendencies that these wt leaders possess on the governing body, i.e.

  alleged " faithful slave " .

  From the way he gave this talk, it would appear that Steven Bell has his sights on being the next governing body member... he seemed to enjoy giving this cultish loyalty talk... he even makes fun of non-JWs who question the WT's disfellowshipping policies...

  Local Needs Talk: Brothers must repair dents and scratches on their vehicles...

  so about 8 years ago, we had a local needs talk about dents an scratches !!!!

  it was given by the cobe and this guy was just your normal everyday elder.

  except he had his occasional pet peeves... like (you guessed it) dents and scratches on some of the brothers' vehicles.

  Lied2NoMore... you're absolutely right... that would be "untactful" if you knew your car could create an unsightly stain in front of someone's home...

  But calling out a brother in a "Local Needs" talk about dents that he can't afford to fix is really cowardly. It shouldn't even be a topic of discussion at all in my opinion. But if this elder really had a problem with it, he could have called the MS aside and offered to help instead of publicly humiliating him in front of the entire congregation...

  So about 8 years ago, we had a local needs talk about DENTS an SCRATCHES !!!! I sh*t you not. It was given by the COBE and this guy was just your normal everyday elder. Except he had his occasional pet peeves... like (you guessed it) Dents and Scratches on some of the brothers' vehicles. This guy could not stand the sight of any paint imperfections, scratches and let alone dents... I heard him on a few occasions voicing his opinion about vehicle appearance during Field Circus and I'm kicking myself in the head right now for not standing up for those brothers who simply couldn't afford to get their cars repaired...

  Anyways, he started his talk with somehing like: "Imagine if one day, you're just getting home from work and a vacuum cleaner salesman pulls up to your house in a banged up and scratched up Honda Accord. What does that say about that salesman? Would you buy a vacuum cleaner from him?... Well if you hold him to a certain standard, shouldn't householders hold us to an even higher standard as representatives of Jehovah's organization?"

  I never cringed so hard in my life since there was a young MS (who just got married and could barely make ends meet) who had a Honda Accord that fit the description... and he was sitting 2 rows ahead of me. I could tell that he just froze for the entire talk.

  His wife, however, didn't take it so well and broke down in tears. She eventually got up and quickly walked to the bathroom to get cleaned up....

  it would be nice if this little nougat of information could be more widely known - especially by journalists.. the quoted figures for scientology are taken from tony ortega's 2011 article in the village voice, which quotes former scientology pr executive jeff hawkins as saying.... "i know that event attendance internationally was somewhere in the region of 25,000 to 35,000. the international 'bodies in the shop' (people actually in the orgs that week for service) was 16,000 to 18,000. ias was struggling to get 40,000 members.

  based on this and a lot of other information i was privy to, i estimate the actual number of scientologists at a maximum of 40,000. that's on the high side.".

  portugal is one of 33 countries with more than 40,000 active jehovah's witnesses - demonstrating the gulf in size between the two faiths.. the following list shows all countries with more than 40,000 jws according to their reported peak publishers for 2013.. .

  Isn`t it ludicrous women can be king/queen preists in heaven and rule with jesus in heaven,yet be silent and submissive to males in the congrgations ?

  Very good question...

  A typical JW answer to this question will be something like:

  "Heavenly creatures don't have vaginas or penises."

  So, when annointed women go to heaven, their vaginas will be sewed up. Likewise, males will have their penises cut off... ouch (it hurts just thinking about it)...

  Anyways, they will always weasle their way out of questions like this...

  bradford pedophile massimo capazzo was disfellowshipped for grooming and abusing two young boys, but the elders never told the police.. he was only prosecuted after turning himself in.. not surprisingly, both victims now need professional help and wrestle with "feelings of worthlessness and guilt.".

  My wife's real estate website gets hundreds of monthly hits from Romania as well (according to the monthly traffic report she prints out)... But I seriously doubt that anyone in Romania is looking at her site... just saying.

  i was approached by an elder about a year ago asking what i am going to do with my large collection of wt literature.

  he told me the society had put word out that they were collecting old literature.

  i asked him why but he couldn't give me a definite answer.

  HowTheBibleWasInvented... no... it's not pointless... a pdf copy of an old embarassing publication does not have the same impact that an actual hard copy has... far from it... I find that pdf copies quite often leave some doubt as to whether or not there were any clever "alterations" done... whereas an actual hard copy is hard to deny...

  the Watchtower knows this all too well, which is why they're on a mission to bury their embarassing past.
